Some royal wedding dresses stand the test
of time, others are always very much of the era they were worn but
some are such instant hits that they take on a fame all of their
own. The gown worn by the Queen’s only sister, Princess Margaret,
for her wedding to photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones on 6 May
1960 at Westminster Abbey is definitely an outfit with its own
place in history.
While there is always much guessing
around the arrival of any new royal Cambridge baby, some things are
certain. One is that we’ll all be looking at the Duchess of
Cambridge walking out of the Lindo Wing with her newest arrival in
her arms wondering how on earth she looks…
Royal Wedding Flowers: the Princess Royal
30th April 2018
The only daughter of the Queen and the
Duke of Edinburgh is known for her down to earth, no-nonsense
approach to life and in many ways, the flowers chosen by Princess
Anne for her wedding in 1973 to Captain Mark Phillips were that
attitude in petal form. As she became the…
Royal Baby Name: Louis
27th April 2018
Well, we weren’t expecting that. After
much speculation and endless guessing, the Duke and Duchess of
Cambridge went and surprised everyone by picking the
name Louis for their third child. The little
prince’s first name has been pretty well used amongst the House of
Windsor – as a middle name. But as a first name, it’s rather
unusual. Here’s a look at little…
TV Review: The Real Camilla
24th April 2018
Can the story of Camilla ever be told
without Diana? That’s the question I was left asking after watching
The Real Camilla (ITV1, April 23rd). This documentary had
unrivalled access to the Duchess of Cornwall throughout her 70th
year so it seemed a bit of a shame that a…
Royal Baby Cambridge: the royal history of April 23rd
23rd April 2018
The newest member of the House of Windsor
is here and the new son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has
arrived on a day with plenty of royal history attached to it. As we
all celebrate the new royal baby, here’s a look at the royal story
of April 23rd. It’s…
Royal Baby Name Focus: James
23rd April 2018
It’s suddenly rising up the bookies’
lists and now we know that Baby Cambridge is a boy, the name James
is getting a lot of love as a possible pick for the House of
Windsor’s newest prince. Of course it’s got family credentials. The
Earl and Countess of Wessex called their son James, and it’s the
also name of the Duchess of Cambridge’s little brother. But it’s
got plenty of…
Royal Baby Name Focus: Victoria and Albert
22nd April 2018
Your challenge, should you choose to
accept it, is to find a royal who isn’t called Albert or Victoria.
OK, slightly OTT, but the fact is that two of the hot favourite
names for Royal Baby Cambridge number three are as close as you can
get to ubiquitous in royal circles.
The Queen's Birth: what the papers said
21st April 2018
If you think royal baby fever is a new
thing, think again. Back on April 21st 1926, when the Queen was
born, there was plenty of excitement over the arrival of a new
princess who – at the time – was several steps removed from the
Crown and never expected to rule. No…
Royal Wedding Flowers: Sarah, Duchess of York
21st April 2018
The wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah
Ferguson, on July 23rd 1986, was really rather floral indeed. We
expect all brides to carry a bouquet but Sarah, unlike many women
in recent royal history, chose to wear flowers in her hair, too. As
she made her way into Westminster Abbey, this royal bride was
surrounded by petals and all of them had special meanings for a
very romantic wedding. Embed from…
