Royals are just like the rest of us, they are all over the various kinds of social media. Today we take a look at all those royals who have public Instagram accounts and use it as a way to showcase their public work and a small part of their private lives.
United Kingdom
The British Royal Family’s main profile on Instagram is theroyalfamily, an account administered by the Palace’s press office and used to make public all the work done by The Queen and other members of the Royal Family, especially those who don’t have a specific account, as well as releasing breaking news to the public, such as the engagement announcement of Princess Eugenie.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are represented on Instagram at clarencehouse – an account ran by their office and responsible for sharing most of the work they do, both in the UK and abroad. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are all represented by an account similar to that of the Prince of Wales. At kensingtonroyal, you may find photos from the work performed by both couples, as well as occasional new photos from Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The Duke of York is present on Instagram in his account hrhthedukeofyork that showcases all his official engagements, with a special focus on the work done by Pitch@Palace, the Duke’s initiative to support and help entrepreneurs on finding the help they need to grow their businesses.
Princess Eugenie of York is the first member of the British Royal Family to have a public personal account on Instagram, princesseugenie. Launched on Women’s Day 2018, the Princess has used her account not only to share photos of her public engagements and announce new patronages but also to share intimate family photos and pictures with her fiancé, Jack Brooksbank.
Sweden
The Swedish Royal Court’s Instagram account, used to share photos from the work done by all members of the Swedish Royal Family, is kungahuset.
After years of having a successful page on Facebook, Princess Madeleine launched her public profile on Instagram, princess_madeleine_of_sweden. Launched on March 2018, the account has been used to publicise her official engagements on behalf of Sweden, as well as the work the Princess does with the World Childhood Foundation. Princess Madeleine also used her profile to share the name of her third child, Princess Adrienne and frequently posts photos of her family.
The Prince Couple of Sweden also has their own profile, prinsparet. Although the account was only made public on 13 May 2018, Prince Carl Philip’s birthday, there were already several photos posted as they had been using it since June 2017. Besides the images from official engagements, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia also share pictures from preparation work for their commitments done behind the scenes and from family moments.
Norway
The Royal Court of Norway shares all the official work done by the King and Queen, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Märtha Louise and Princess Astrid through their account, detnorskekongehus.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit also has her own public account, crownprincessmm, where she shares family moment photos and pictures from the fields she is passionate about, such as literature and the arts.
Princess Märtha Louise is also present on Instagram. Through her account, martha_louise123, she posts photos from her private moments, her business activities and her work as a member of the Norwegian Royal Family.
Jordan
The Royal Hashemite Court uses its Instagram account, rhcjo, to bring updates on the work done by the King and his family on behalf of Jordan.
Both Queen Rania and her eldest son, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, are also present on Instagram, where they share exclusive insights into their official engagements and intimate family moments.
Another Jordanian royal present on social media is Princess Haya of Jordan, a half-sister of King Abdullah II and married to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Through her account, hrhprincesshaya, she shares the work she does in Dubai and continuously remembers her late parents.
Greece
Although no longer a reigning royal family, the Greek Royal Family have a strong presence on Instagram, where they show small parts of their every-day lives.

Denmark
The Danish Royal Court’s official Instagram account, detdanskekongehus, is used to showcase the official engagements performed by Queen Margrethe II, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie and Princess Benedikte.
The Netherlands
The Dutch Royal Court’s official Instagram account, koninklijhuis, is responsible for sharing photos of the official engagements of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, as well as the work done by Princess Beatrix and other members of the Royal House of the Netherlands.
Monaco
Princess Charlene of Monaco has an official Instagram account, hshprincesscharlene, which is administered by the Prince’s Palace of Monaco and is used to publicise the work done by Princess Charlene as Monaco’s First Lady and share photos of the Princess with her husband, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and their children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.
Belgium
The Belgian Royal Palace has an official Instagram account that is responsible for providing coverage of the activities of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, their four children, King Albert and Queen Paola, and King Philippe’s siblings.
Luxembourg
Tessy Antony, Princess of Luxembourg, is the only royal presence on Instagram from Luxembourg. In her account, tessy_from_luxembourg, Princess Tessy shares moments of her life in London with her two sons, Prince Gabriel and Prince Noah, as well as her professional career and her efforts with the NGO she co-founded, Professors Without Borders.
