A look at who walked behind The Queen’s coffin on its way to Westminster Hall

The Queen has left Buckingham Palace for the final time and made her way to Westminster Hall, where she will lie-in-state for four days.

Her coffin was transported to Westminster Hall in a procession with several members of the Royal Family and Royal Household following behind on foot.

In the first row behind the cortege were the late Queen’s children – King Charles III, Princess Anne, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex.

Behind The Queen’s children were three of her grandsons. The Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex put aside their differences and walked side by side alongside their cousin, Peter Phillips, to honour their beloved “Grannie.” They were followed by The Queen’s nephew, the Earl of Snowdon; son-in-law, Sir Tim Laurence; and cousin, the Duke of Glouchester.

However, the royals were not the only ones in the 40-minute procession.

First in line ahead of the cortege were the mounted police, followed by the Household Calvary Regiment and then the bands of the Grenadier and Scots Guards. The ADC to Major General Commanding, Brigade Major Household Division, Field Office in Brigade Waiting and Silver Stick in Waiting were in a line behind them.

The Major General Commanding in the Household Division was next in line; behind him were the Director of the Royal Collection, Comptroller Lord Chamberlain’s Office and Master of the Household.

The Keeper of the Privy Purse and Private Secretary walked together with the Master of the Horse and Lord Stewart directly behind them.

The final three ahead of the coffin were two of The Queen’s Pages and a Palace Steward.

Members of the former Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall’s staff followed the royals. A detachment of the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), Household Calvary Regiment and the mounted police were at the end of the procession.

A Service for the Reception of Her Majesty’s Coffin took place once the procession arrived at Westminster Hall with other members of the British Royal Family gathered in the hall after arriving via cars from Buckingham Palace.

People have been lining up for miles to queue past Her Majesty’s coffin to pay their respects. As of midnight in the UK, the line was three miles long.

Her Majesty will lie-in-state until 6 am on the morning of her funeral on 19 September.
