A brand new Platinum Jubilee celebration for Prince Charles

Prince Charles spent Wednesday visiting New Lanark, Scotland. Known as The Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, he and his wife visited several different sites in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Duke and Duchess visited New Lanark in Lanarkshire, which is only one of six designated World Heritage Sites in Scotland. It is an eighteenth-century purpose-built mill village that was used as a model for industrial communities across the British Empire in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In addition to visiting surviving giant steam engines, they were able to see several artefacts from the mill.

Charles and Camilla were able to visit the main textile room where the same looms are still used for textile production today. One of the highlights of the visit was seeing a new wool blend that has been created in honour of The Queenā€™s Platinum Jubilee. The new blend is available in three colours- Amethyst, Platinum, and Azurite- found in the crown she wore at her 1953 Coronation.

True to their love of horses, The Duke and Duchess also visited the Lanark Auction Mart. They met several different Clydesdale Horses and members of the Clydesdale Horse Society. The couple viewed a new statue at the Mart of a Clydesdale Horse; the statue is celebrating the 300th anniversary of the first-bred Clydesdale Horse. Prince Charles has been Patron of the Clydesdale Horse Society since 2007.

Later in the day, The Duke attended a global symposium organised by the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation at Dumfries House. Tanya and Nadim Ednan-Laperouseā€™s teenage daughter died in 2016 from an allergic reaction to sesame in a Pret a Manger sandwich. Prince Chares looked to be very engaged during the roundtable and thanked the Ednan-Laperouseā€™s dedication and work.Ā

Charles and Camilla attended the Braemar Royal Highland Gathering at the weekend with The Princess Royal.
