The King and Queen of Spain are set to make a State Visit to Sweden as 2021 draws to a close.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will spend two days in Stockholm at the end of November.
They will be hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. It’s the first Spanish State Visit to Sweden in over forty years.
Announcing the visit, the Swedish Royal Household said that its aim was to ”further strengthen and promote the longstanding and excellent relations between Sweden and Span. The Visit is also aimed at stimulating co-operation in the green recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, with a focus on innovate and sustainable solutions.”
King Felipe and Queen Letizia are due to arrive in Sweden November 24th for their two day visit. Further details of their diary will be revealed in due course.
The last Spanish State Visit to Sweden took place in 1979 and was carried out by Felipe’s parents, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. They welcomed King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to Spain for their own State Visit in 1983.
