Princess Amalia’s stalker wants to end treatment

amalia

The person convicted of threatening Dutch Princess Amalia two years ago wants his TBS treatment to end. However, the Public Prosecution has asked that the treatment continues for two years.

The Zwolle resident, only known as Wouter G., was sentenced to three months in prison and mandatory treatment of up to four years for sending threatening messages to the Princess of Orange.

It was argued that the trauma he suffered in the military and childhood have been addressed, and he’s stopped smoking marijuana.

Wouter G. told the court, “I’m fine,” and added, “I’m careful not to confuse myself by drinking too much or smoking weed.”

However, a psychiatrist told the court that the TBS treatment is still necessary for the final two years and said: “The problem is bigger than he can oversee.”

The court will issue its ruling on 6 December.

Wouter G. had sent the Princess messages via Instagram of a “violent, sexual and frightening nature”, according to the prosecutor. He reportedly threatened to rape her. He also threatened to kill one of the Princess’ friends. He told her that he would find her on King’s Day and that there was “no escape.” He also told her he was saving up for a gun. The threats were sent in early January 2020.

TBS (Theta Burst Simulation) treatment is a treatment for major depressive disorder.
