Princess Charlene’s latest operation went “very well”

Princess Charlene of Monaco’s latest operation for an ear, nose and throat infection went “very well,” according to the Princely Palace.

The Princess of Monaco underwent surgery on Friday, 8 October, in South Africa. It is reportedly the last surgery she will have before returning to Monaco.

The Princely Palace told French news agency AFP on Saturday: “The Princess underwent an operation on Friday which went very well. This operation under general anaesthesia is the last operation she had to undergo after the ENT infection she previously had. She has now been under observation for 48 hours.”

The Princely Palace has not said when Charlene will be able to return home, but in August, she said she had hoped to return this month. She has not been in Monaco since May when she flew to her home country of South Africa for a short 10-day conservation trip. While there, she developed a severe ear, nose and throat infection that has required several surgeries and has prevented her from flying home to Monaco.

Charlene had her third surgery in August and was visited by Prince Albert and their twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, after the procedure. She shared images on her Instagram account with her children, saying she was “thrilled to have my family back with me.”

Just last month, the Princess of Monaco was rushed to hospital in Durban after collapsing. She has since recovered.

Princess Charlene’s long absence from Monaco has led to rumours of relationship trouble with Prince Albert. Stories got so bad that Prince Albert vehemently denied crisis rumours in an interview with People magazine. He called the rumours “appalling” and that Charlene “didn’t leave Monaco in a huff! She didn’t leave because she was mad at me or at anybody else. She was going down to South Africa to reassess her foundation’s work down there and to take a little time off with her brother and some friends.”
