A German prince is among those arrested in an extensive set of raids by the German Federal Criminal Police, the anti-terrorist force and other special units on a number of addresses associated with the far-right Reichsbürger movement throughout Germany. The movement, or members of it, are said to have planned a coup d’état in Germany.
German Prince Heinrich XIII Reuss of Greiz was among the 25 arrested suspected of planning the coup d’état in Germany. The plan is said to have been to attack the German parliament in Berlin. According to some German media, it was the prince who could have acted as the new head of state, a King/Emperor of Germany. The prince was arrested at an address in Frankfurt.
Prince Heinrich XIII Reuss of Greiz comes from an old noble family. The House of Reuss ruled areas in Thuringia until 2018. The family still properties in Lower Austria, Saalfeld and Thuringia.
Senior members of the House of Reuss-Greiz have now denounced Prince Heinrich XIII Reuss of Greiz. Prince Heinrich XIV Reuss of Greiz, the head of the House of Reuss-Greiz has said: «Fourteen years ago he left the family of his own wish and there has been no personal contact for a long time.»
The action is still ongoing and 3,000 police officers have arrested people all over Germany associated with the right-wing movement. A number of weapons have been seized.
According to German newspapers, the aim of the movement’s members was to “clean out” the “upper echelon” of the German government.
Reichsburger translates as “Citizens of the Reich” with members denying the legitimacy of the post war German state.
