Son of Norway’s Crown Princess charged with multiple counts of rape

Marius Borg Høiby, the 28-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been charged with 32 offences, including four counts of rape.

The charges have been levelled against Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son following a year long investigation.

Høiby was initially arrested in August 2024 on suspicion of rape.

Oslo prosecutors announced the charges on Monday, which also include sexual assault and bodily harm, involving multiple victims.

Høiby denies the accusations, with legal proceedings ongoing.

The Norwegian Royal Household has declined to comment.

Marius Borg Høiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marot from a prior relationship. He was first arrested in August on suspicion of causing bodily harm to an unnamed woman. Borg Hoiby was also arrested on 15 September for violating the restraining order put in place around the woman concerned.

Crown Prince Haakon, Marius Borg Hoiby’s stepfather, has previously declined to comment publicly on the legal issues, stating that there is an ongoing investigation.

It was reported that the Crown Prince had taken Borg Høiby to rehab in early November. The Norwegian Royal Family did not publicly confirm or deny that.

Last autumn, there were also reports that items had gone missing from the home of the Crown Prince and Princess after a party held there by Borg Hoiby.
