Harry and Meghan to remain non working members of the Royal Family as they plan return to the UK

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not become working members of the Royal Family again as they plan a return to the UK.

Harry and Meghan are understood to be relocating to the country from their home in California.

It’s understood that they will set up home in the UK, making it their main base, while still retaining properties in the US and Portugal.

King Charles is reported to have found out about the relocation at the weekend, just weeks before the couple return.

They will not return to their roles within the Royal Family, which they gave up in 2020 saying they wanted to make money through private business interests. Initially, the couple said they would continue to represent the Royal Family at major events, such as Trooping the Colour. However, this ”half in half out arrangement” was soon rejected and the couple made a permanent move away from royal roles.

In the intervening years, they have given several interviews attacking the Royal Family.

Prince Harry has also lost a court case in which he argued he should have a similar level of security to the royals, claiming that it wasn’t safe for him to bring his wife and children to the UK.

However, the family are understood to be moving to the UK this month as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are set to start school in the country in September.

There is no word on where the couple will live when they return. Their home at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate was returned when they left the UK.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited England and Scotland last month and spent time at Althorp, the estate of Earl Spencer and the place where Diana, Princess of Wales is buried.
