The Prince of Wales has been replaced as president of a charity which aims to protect green spaces for children and sport, although he will remain Patron.
Upon Queen Elizabeth II’s death in 2022, Prince William succeeded his grandmother as Patron of Fields in Trust – which meant he was both president and patron.
In a move widely seen as sensible, the heir to the throne has handed the reins of the presidency to former England midfielder, Jill Scott, so he can focus solely on being Patron.
Ms Scott was welcomed to the role on Wednesday evening, where she was pictured alongside the prince during the Euro 2025 football match between England and the Netherlands.
Prince William became president of the charity in 2013, taking over from his grandfather, Prince Philip.
According to The independent, Ms Scott spoke about the importance of the charity’s work.
She said: “I was a young girl with a dream that didn’t exist, and I went on to play for England, but without that green space, that would never have happened.
“Access to these spaces should be seen as a right, not a privilege.”
