As the oldest child of Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Princess Beatrice began her education in 1991 at the independent Upton House School in Windsor. Her Royal Highness moved, in 1995, to Coworth Park School. Her sister, Princess Eugenie, also attended the school, and it was during this that their parents divorced in 1996. As a child, it was discovered that the Princess suffered from dyslexia and would require additional help with her reading and studies, as a result.

Next up for Beatrice was attending St George’s School in Ascot and close to Windsor Castle; she was there from 2000 to 2007. The Princess was chosen as Head Girl in her final year at the school. Due to her disability, Her Royal Highness, remaining at St George’s, delayed taking the GCSE exams for a year. After taking her A-Levels, Beatrice achieved an A in drama, B in history and a B in film studies. Princess Eugenie followed her sister to St George’s School, as well.

Beatrice’s university education came next but not before she took the traditional gap year where she travelled the globe. The Princess visited Australia, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States on her travels. She entered Goldsmiths College, London in September 2008. There, she studied for a BA in History and History of Ideas through a three-year programme. Her Royal Highness completed all her requirements in 2011 and graduated with a 2:1 from the institution.

The Princess, who is seventh in line to the British throne, now works in the business sector. However, as she is not a working royal, she does not undertake official royal duties. Beatrice is the patron of several organisations of which she dedicates some of her time – including those charities involved with dyslexia.

Her Royal Highness will celebrate her 29th birthday today.
