What we know about the Prince of Wales’ 70th birthday celebration tonight

Not much has been revealed about the 70th birthday celebration of the Prince of Wales taking place tonight. What we do know is below about the event hosted by The Queen at Buckingham Palace is below:

We know that the private evening celebration is for hundreds of family and friends. There will be a dinner and reception beginning in the later evening in the State Rooms. It is believed that Her Majesty will make a speech in honour of her eldest child’s birthday, as well.

It has been organised by The Queen’s private office and will be paid for out of her own personal funds, according to the Daily Mail.

Members of the British Royal Family attending are a given – including an appearance by the Duke of Edinburgh. But who else should we expect to see tonight?

At first, the Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg would not confirm the attendance of any member of the Grand Ducal Family calling the party tonight “private.” However, they did confirm to Royal Central yesterday that Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa would be at the celebration.

Others there will be Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark; King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway; King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium; and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands. We also know that Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia were invited.

No royals from Sweden will attend as they are currently welcoming an incoming state visit from Italy. King Abdullah of Jordan is currently on a working visit to the United States, as well, while Crown Prince Hussein is Regent. Queen Rania is not believed to have joined her husband on the visit.
