Westminster Abbey has joined in the global outpouring of love and support for the Princess of Wales following her revelation that she has been diagnosed with cancer and has started treatment.
On social media, the Abbey shared a statement from the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, who said: “In the face of this news, it is our hope that Her Royal Highness will feel sustained by the love that surrounds her and find renewed hope in the prayers that we offer.”
The Abbey also shared that “everyone at Westminster Abbey wishes The Princess of Wales well following the news of her cancer diagnosis.”
The Church of England shared a prayer for Catherine as well, it reads: “Gracious God, we pray for the continued recovery of the Princess of Wales, for her husband, and for her family. Grant to them, and to all who are affected by sickness, faith, hope and the knowledge of your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
Catherine’s entry into royal life began at Westminster Abbey in 2011, as it was the site of her wedding to Prince William. Since then, she has gone on to host her own Christmas carol service there as a way to thank first responders, early healthcare providers, and others.
Catherine announced Friday evening that she has started treatment. You can read the statement in full here.
