The Earl of Wessex who is patron of Paralympics GB and the Princess Royal who is President of Team GB were also present as was the Duke of Gloucester.

Hundreds of medallists from the Summer Games of Tokyo 2020 and the Winter Games at Beijing 2022 were invited to the celebrations on November 2nd 2022.

Among those at the reception were sprinter,  Imani-Lara Lansiquot, and diver, Tom Daley as well as Paralympic cycling champion, Dame Sarah Storey.

Eve Muirhead who led Team GB to a famous gold in the curling was also present.

Ahead of the reception, a special photo of the royals was taken together.

The celebration came as Buckingham Palace began a busier time of engagements following the period of royal mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Earlier in the day, King Charles III had hosted an event marking the 50th anniversary of the Resettlement of British Asians from Uganda. In August 1972, Idi Amin ordered around 60,000 people to leave Uganda and half of those told to go came to the UK where they were offered support. The reception brought also brought together some of the voluntary organisations which had helped resettle them.
