The Archbishop of Canterbury has led prayers for The Queen after doctors said Her Majesty’s health was giving cause for concern.
Justin Welby said ”My prayers, and the prayers of people across the Church of England, and the nation, are with Her Majesty The Queen today. May God’s presence strengthen and comfort Her Majesty, her family, and those who are caring for her at Balmoral.”
It followed an unexpected statement from Buckingham Palace, issued just after noon on September 8th 2022, which said that ”Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge have travelled to Balmoral to be with Her Majesty.
The Queen, who is 96, has experienced health issues in the past months, including mobility issues. On September 6th 2022, she appointed a new Prime Minister at Balmoral but soon afterwards, she cancelled a virtual meeting of the Privy Council as it was felt she needed to rest.
Other members of Her Majesty’s immediate family have been informed of her condition.
