The Queen, Charles and Camilla miss Easter Sunday Church Service at Windsor

The Queen was absent from the annual Easter Sunday Church Service held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor this week.

Her Majesty has heavily reduced her diary in recent months due to ongoing mobility issues, and was not expected to be present at the service.

Also unavailable was the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, although the couple did represent the monarch at the Maundy Thursday service earlier in the week.

In the absence of the monarch and the heir, Prince William led The Royal Family to church alongside the Duchess of Cambridge and their two eldest children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The Queen’s only public appearance so far this year was in March when she attended a service at Westminster Abbey commemorating the life of her late husband, Prince Philip.

The monarch has continued to carry out desk duties from Windsor Castle as well as events that can take place virtually.

The Queen has been on light duties since October following an overnight stay in hospital on the recommendation of her doctors.
