Buckingham Palace has confirmed the date of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
The Queen’s State Funeral will be held at 11 am on 19 September at Westminster Abbey.
Queen Elizabeth II will Lie-in-State in Westminster Hall for four days to allow the public to pay their respects.
Her Late Majesty’s Coffin travelled by road to the Palace of Holyroodhouse on 11 September to lie in the Throne Room until the afternoon of 12 September.
That afternoon a Procession will be formed in the forecourt of the Palace of Holyroodhouse with the King and other members of the Royal Family to take the coffin to St Giles’ Cathedral, where a service will be held to receive Her Late Majesty’s body.
Vigils from The Royal Company of Archers will guard the coffin as Scots have the opportunity to pay their respects.
The Queen’s coffin will remain in Scotland until 13 September, when it will be taken to London.
The Royal Air Force will fly Queen Elizabeth’s coffin to RAF Northolt on 13 September; the Princess Royal will accompany her mother’s body back to England. Her Late Majesty’s body will be placed in Buckingham Palace’s Bow Room until the afternoon of 14 September.
The following day a Gun Carriage of The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will transport the coffin from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster, where The Queen will Lie-in-State until the morning of the funeral. The Procession from Buckingham Palace will travel through the Queen’s Gardens, The Mall, Horse Guards and Horse Guards Arch, Whitehall, Parliament Street, Parliament Square and New Palace Yard.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, assisted by The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster, will conduct a short service upon the coffin’s arrival at Westminster Hall. The King and members of the Royal Family will be in attendance.
Lying-in-State will end on the morning of 19 September.
Her Late Majesty’s coffin will be taken by a Procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey.
After the State Funeral, there will be a Procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch.
From Wellington Arch, the coffin will be taken to Windsor. Upon arrival in Windsor, the State Hearse will lead the Procession to St George’s Chapel via the Long Walk. A Committal Service will follow.
