Platinum Jubilee: When is the Big Jubilee Lunch?

There are several events to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the coming days. However, there is one event that will be taking place in communities throughout the United Kingdom that anyone can take part in.

The Big Jubilee Lunch will be happening on Sunday, 5 June, and anyone can take part. Started in 2009 by The Eden Project, The Big Lunch aims to bring communities and neighbours together to share a meal on a June weekend to encourage friendship and community. It can be part of your local street party for the Jubilee or a separate event.

Participants can add their own Big Jubilee Lunch to an interactive map for both private and public events. If you are looking for a Big Jubilee Lunch to take part in, you can use the map to find public events near you. Over 85,000 people have signed up to host a Big Jubilee Lunch.

The Duchess of Cornwall is Patron of The Big Lunch and will be taking part in this special occasion. Both Camilla and Charles will be taking part in a Big Jubilee Lunch at the Oval, the south London international cricket ground, on June 5, the last day of the Jubilee weekend.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex will also be taking part in the Big Jubilee Lunch and will be attending a community event in Windsor near their Berkshire home. The event is being hosted on the Long Walk at Windsor Castle and will have almost 500 tables in an attempt to set the world record for the longest dinner table.

In addition to the Big Jubilee Lunch in communities across the UK, the Platinum Jubilee Pageant will be taking place around Buckingham Palace on June 5 2022. The pageant will have four different acts and features over 5,000 performers from across the UK and the Commonwealth.
