Meghan Markle has a new assistant helping her out in the lead up to her May wedding.
Amy Pickerill has been reassigned from her position as senior communications officer for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry to help Meghan with her diary and during engagements.
Amy has degrees in history and broadcast journalism and joined the Kensington Palace team from banking.
A source spoke to the Daily Mirror saying that Amy had been promoted to Prince Harry’s assistant private secretary and that she will be “supporting Meghan on her official work.”
Amy was spotted trailing Meghan during her visit to Brixton and then again during her first official visit to Wales last week. She is the blonde to the right in the below picture.

It is not known whether Amy will continue with this role after Meghan gets married, but some are anticipating that she will become Meghan’s private secretary.
A private secretary works closely with a member of the Royal Family to help facilitate their job.
In an past blog post on Royal Central, we outlined the three major aspects of a private secretary’s job.
“First, the private secretary is the public face of that royal when it comes to issuing of statements or responding to letters,” the post began.
“Second, the private secretary has the responsibility for coordinating the development of the official policy items that are important to the royal they are working for, and for ensuring those items are clearly and fully implemented.”
“Third, they will be in attendance at all meetings, taking notes, and are responsible for the royal’s schedule or diary.”
As a consequence of Amy moving into Prince Harry’s office, a new communications officer is being sought. The successful candidate will need to be “educated to degree level (or equivalent) and with some experience of working within a frontline communications environment,” per the job posting.
