One of England’s most historic sites has been taken over by the Platinum Jubilee.
Stonehenge was lit up with images of Her Majesty to mark the 70th anniversary of her reign as Jubilee week began in earnest.
English Heritage, which cares for the prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, chose eight photos of The Queen, one from each decade of her reign, to project on to the stones as her Platinum celebrations got under way.
Among the photos chosen were ones of The Queen riding and another of her with her beloved corgis.
Meanwhile, six famous images of Her Majesty have been projected on to Marble Arch in London to mark the Jubilee.
The National Portrait Gallery chose some of the most celebrated photos of The Queen for the tribute including one of the first taken of her during her reign by the celebrated artist Dorothy Wilding.
Both tributes came just days before the Platinum Jubilee weekend gets under way. Celebrations start on June 2 with Trooping the Colour and continue until June 5 when the Platinum Pageant will take over London.
Royal Central will bring you full coverage of all the Jubilee events.
