Royal Visit Germany: Charles and Camilla’s May Tour Revealed

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are to make a four day visit to Germany next month. The couple will undertake the trip at the request of the UK government.

Charles and Camilla’s tour will run from May 7th to May 11th 2019 and see them visit Berlin, Leipzig and Munich on a trip that aims to show the depth of relations between the UK and Germany and underline the continuing importance of those links.

This latest royal visit gets under way in Berlin where the Prince of Wales will meet the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. In the evening, the prince and the duchess are set to attend the annual Queen’s Birthday Party, held by the UK Ambassador to Germany at his official residence.

May 8th will see the couple head to Leipzig where their itinerary includes engagements linked to the city’s cultural heritage. They will also hear about how the people of Leipzig were involved in the movement to bring an end to the division of Germany in 1989.

Charles and Camilla will end this latest overseas tour with two days in Munich. The Prince of Wales’ diary for this leg of the visit includes engagements linked to economic co-operation, green produce and organic food. The Duchess of Cornwall will hear about work in the city to support women who have suffered domestic abuse.

Their stay in Munich will also see Charles and Camilla attend a gala dinner attended by leading figures from the worlds of business, politics, culture and education. Their visit will come to an end at an organic farm where they will hear about ongoing work to protect and promote local produce.

The Prince of Wales has visited Germany several times before in both a personal and public capacity while the Duchess of Cornwall made an official trip to the country in 2009.
