The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got their hands dirty in last night’s ‘A Berry Royal Christmas’ on BBC1 when the royal couple got a bit competitive in the kitchen while preparing treats for charity workers.
While Kate was able to keep her apron clean, William got a bit messy in the process of baking. During this segment, the Duchess revealed to Mary Berry that the Duke does cook for them at home. She said that he’s especially good at breakfast and cooked a lot for her at university – which she admitted she believed was in an effort to impress her!
The Duchess of Cambridge also revealed that one of Prince Louis’ first words was Mary during the programme and that he loves beech fruit. She also said that Princess Charlotte loves Charlotte potatoes. Kate also revealed that she makes her children’s birthday cakes each year – staying up until midnight baking away.
Mary Berry accompanied the Duchess behind the scenes at the RHS Wisley Show back in the early fall, where the final Back to Nature Garden debuted in a permanent location. Kate revealed that she cooks with George, Charlotte, and Louis and that the last thing they cooked was Berry’s pizza dough.
They also discussed the importance of children playing in nature, as well as how cooking helps them build confidence and creativity.
The Duchess and Berry also were filmed at The Brink, which is a bar founded by Kate’s patronage, Action on Addiction, where they met those whose lives were changed by the charity.
Mary Berry also spent time with the Duke of Cambridge at The Passage where they spoke about how he talks to Prince George and Princess Charlotte about homelessness. He revealed that on school runs when they see the homeless, they will ask him, “Why can’t they go home?”
He said that he plans on taking them with him to places like The Passage and Centrepoint like his mother did with him and his brother, Prince Harry, to show them that there is life outside palace walls.
William also took time to brag on Kate, explaining she was the one who came up with the idea for Heads Together.
Berry accompanied the Duke and Duchess on four charitable trips across the UK.
The final segment was the holiday party held at the Rosewood Hotel in London in November for 150 people. People involved with their patronages were in attendance at the party where Their Royal Highnesses were able to thank them for their work over the past year and their work in the upcoming Christmas period.
