An important occasion shines on the King and Queen’s Christmas card

An important, historic moment features on King Charles and Queen Camilla’s 2023 Christmas card.

An image of the King and Queen in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace after their Coronation on 6th May 2023 is shown on the card. The photo was taken by Hugo Burnand on the historic occasion.

King Charles is seen wearing the Imperial State Crown, His Majesty’s Robe of Estate and Coronation tunic, while Queen Camilla wears Queen Mary’s Crown, Her Majesty’s Robe of Estate and Coronation dress.

The King’s robe is made of purple silk velvet with gold embroidery; robemakers Ede and Ravenscroft prepared the garment ahead of the Coronation. It was originally worn by King George VI, Charles’s grandfather, in 1937.

Her Majesty’s dress was designed by Bruce Oldfield, while the robe was by Ede and Ravenscroft. The Royal School of Needlework embroidered the gown.

The card released by Their Majesties will be sent to their personal friends and family, not to the public who sends Christmas greetings; a different Christmas card will be sent to the general public.
