The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared more details around the arrival of their baby, due at the end of the month. The couple have said they will let everyone know about the newest member of their family once they are safely here but no details will be released about where the baby is due to make their debut ahead of the birth.
Instead, in a statement, the couple said:
”The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby. Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.’’
It means the first news we’ll have of Baby Sussex will come once they are here. The couple’s decision means there will be no press or crowds waiting outside the place where the baby is born and that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their child will be able to settle into family life before making their public debut.
It is in marked contrast to the arrival of the three Cambridge babies who were all delivered at the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington with an announcement made on the place of birth several weeks before the Duchess of Cambridge went into labour. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were all presented to the world soon after their arrivals as their parents left hospital with them.
Meghan and Harry announced they were expecting a baby in October 2018 and in January, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that their child is due at the end of April or beginning of May.
The new arrival will be seventh in line to the throne from birth. They will be a fourth grandchild for the Prince of Wales and an eighth great grandchild for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
