Prince Carl Philip gets previews of top chef’s menu for the ‘World Cup of cooking’

Bocuse d’Or Europe is a qualifying competition for the World Cup of Chefs, he world’s most prestigious cooking competition.

On March 14th 2022, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden participated in the tasting of the competition menu ahead of the Bocuse d’Or Europe competition, which takes place in Budapest from March 23rd to March 24th.

At the Bocuse d’Or Europe in Budapest, twenty of Europe’s top chefs compete for the top ten places in the grand finale, which takes place in Lyon in January 2023. Sweden is represented by Jimmi Eriksson. The team also includes the team’s coach Martin Brag, Thilda Mårtensson and Tommy Myllymäki who is Bocuse d’Or Sweden’s president.

The team had a long conversation with the Swedish prince and explained to him about the menu they are presenting and how the competition works.

The Swedish chefs presented their menu to Prince Carl Philip, who got to taste the dishes. The prince was clearly interested and asked questions about both the cooking techniques and the ingredients used.

Bocuse d’Or Europe was started in 1987 by star chef Paul Bocuse. Every two years, the competition is held in Lyon, France. Behind the Swedish investment in Bocuse d’Or is Bocuse d’Or Sweden, which in turn is owned by The Swedish Academy of Restaurant’s. L’Académie Suédoise de Bocuse d’Or was founded in 1990 by Sven-Gunnar Svensson to take care of and be responsible for Sweden’s participation in Bocuse d’Or. The Swedish Bocuse d’Or Academy is part of Gastronomy Sweden.
