Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia open Avicii tribute exhibition

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden enjoyed a few hours away from their children to open the Avicii Experience.

Sweden’s Prince Couple arrived at Stergels Torg in Stockholm, where an interactive museum is located that will host the tribute to the late singer.

Their Royal Highnesses cut the ribbon to inaugurate the exhibition before receiving a tour of it, during which they were accompanied by curator Ingmarie Halling.

Present for the inauguration was also Avicii’s father, Klas Bergling, who has spent the time since his son’s passing putting together the exhibition but also creating a fund to donate money to charities dealing with mental health issues.

During the ceremony, it was Princess Sofia who gave a speech, during which she quoted one of Avicii’s songs, “The night,” which in part talks about the role his father had in his life.

The Avicii Experience is an exclusive look at the life of the artist, whose real name was Tim Bergling. The exhibition will feature a recreation of his childhood bedroom, as well as never-before-seen pictures and unreleased music.

Every item featured has been donated by the family or is displayed with their authorisation, including some exclusive videos.

Avicii was a special part of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia’s love story. Most famously, he performed during the couple’s wedding reception, which left an unforgettable memory on the newlyweds.

And in 2019, the Prince Couple took part in a tribute concert, with all proceeds going to charities supporting efforts to help people suffering from mental health issues.

Tim Bergling passed away of suicide in 2018 during a holiday in Oman with some friends after dealing with mental health problems for almost his entire life.

Taking his own life at 28, the Swedish singer had retired two years earlier from the public eye to try and get on top of an opioid and painkiller addiction that had plagued him for many years.
