Hereditary Prince Ernst August and Princess Ekaterina of Hanover have reportedly welcomed their second child, a son, according to the German press. As of writing this article, the House of Hanover has yet to confirm the news.
The couple announced last year in October that they were expecting a baby boy, and he was due to be born sometime in April. However, the little boy, whose name has not been revealed, was born on Thursday, 14 March.
When the couple announced they were expecting their second child, Hereditary Prince Ernst August told the German press he and his wife are “very happy” to be expecting a new addition to the family.
Hereditary Prince Ernst August, 35, and Princess Ekaterina, 32, have a one-year-old daughter, Princess Elisabeth, born on 22 February 2018.
The couple married in a civil ceremony on 6 July 2017 in Hanover at the New Town Hall. Their religious ceremony took place two days later on 8 July 2017. The Lutheran ceremony took place at the Market Church of Saints George and James.
His Royal Highness Prince Ernst August is the eldest child of Prince Ernst August and his first wife, Chantal Hochuli. He was born in Germany on 19 July 1983. He became the Hereditary Prince of Hanover upon his father becoming the Prince of Hanover and head of the House of Hanover in 1987. He has one younger brother, Prince Christian, and one younger half-sister, Princess Alexandra (from his father’s second marriage to Princess Caroline of Monaco). As such, he is the step-nephew of Prince Albert of Monaco II.
Princess Ekaterina was born in the Soviet Union as Ekaterina Malysheva on 1 July 1986. A fashion designer and filmmaker, she was raised in Prague, Czech Republic. She met the Hereditary Prince at a 2011 London party, and they became engaged in 2016.
