Man arrested by Norwegian Royal Guard

A man has been arrested near to the Royal Palace in Oslo.

A video circulating on social media shows a confrontation between a man and several guards in front of the palace.

In the video, guards seem to try to arrest the man, who resists.

The guards eventually follow the man down the Palace square. The video shows an altercation with one of the guards falling to the ground. Another guard holds a weapon. The man throws his hands in the air and is eventually overpowered by a soldier who arrives.

The Royal Guard confirmed that one person was arrested by the guards after threats and violence against a public servant. He is also said to have made an attempt to approach the palace’s main entrance.

The man was later handed over to the police and is now in custody. There were no members of the Norwegian royal family at home at the palace when the incident took place.

The Norwegian army has issued a press statement in which it says that they believe the soldiers behaved correctly in the incident and that no civilians were in danger.
