It’s summertime, and for royal enthusiasts, that means the chance of visiting royal palaces. While during the year royal palaces are mostly or entirely closed to the public because of the work royals carry out inside, the summer is a chance for visitors to enjoy the best architecture and the most exquisite decor in the country.Â
This will be true for anyone visiting Luxembourg between the 14th of July and the 1st of September 2021 – they will have the chance of a guided tour inside the Grand Ducal Palace.Â
Due to ongoing restrictions, masks and social distancing are mandatory, and visitors will be limited to groups of ten people, to which only one guide can be added.Â
After having to close in 2020 due to rising numbers of infections in Luxembourg, this year, the Grand Ducal Palace has decided, in accordance with the occupants, to open two more offices for the first time.Â
Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the personal office of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, as well as the personal office of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, for the first time ever.Â
An anticipation of this information was given in April when the Grand Ducal House posted a sneak peek of the two offices on their social media; specifically, they posted a picture of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa’s office on the 15th of April and a picture of a section of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume’s office on the 20th of April.Â
Potential visitors can book their tickets here or directly at the entrance of the Palace. A note on their website also states that the visit will take place according to rules effective at the date of the visit.Â
The visit is offered in Luxembourg’s three official languages (Luxembourgish, French and German), as well as English.
