Prince Joachim speaks out again on family quarrel over children’s titles

Prince Joachim of Denmark has spoken about spending time with his mother, brother and sister-in-law in Denmark as debate continues about his response to Queen Margrethe’s decision to remove the royal titles of his children.

In an interview with the Danish newspaper “BT” in Paris at the Danish church’s Christmas bazaar, the prince made his new remarks, two weeks after he attended Queen Margrethe’s jubilee at Copenhagen City Hall.

According to Prince Joachim, there is a development in the conflict regarding his children’s titles, which he states have not been completed., Queen Margrethe has announced that Prince Joachim’s children will lose their prince and princess titles on January 1st 2023.

To the Danish press Prince Joachim said: “There is a lot to work on. Communication was what was lacking. Now we have met, and we are on the right track.”

Princess Marie also says that there has been a new agreement in the royal family. She said: “We agree in the family that there should be better communication in the future.”

After the announcement from Queen Margrethe, Prince Joachim stated that he felt a lack of communication. Princess Marie also described their relationship with Joachim’s brother, Crown Prince Frederik, and his wife, Crown Princess Mary, as complicated. However, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie did not want to answer whether the relationship was still complicated when they were present at the Christmas bazaar in Paris.

Prince Joachim has previously directed strong comments at his mother, Queen Margrethe. When the news broke, the prince said: “I was given five days’ notice to tell my children that their identity has been taken from them.”

In November it also emerged that Prince Joachim will have a new job, after his position as Danish defence attaché in Paris was not extended. However, the Prince would not go into more detail about which job he will now start.
