Mary of Denmark is the perfect winter queen

King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are hosting the first New Year’s levees of their reign. And as she welcomed hundreds of guests on a cold, Epiphany morning, Denmark’s consort was the ultimate winter queen.

The King and Queen of Denmark hosted a levee at Amalienborg Palace to meet the Supreme Court Judges, as well as the Guard House Regiments and Royal Life Guards at Christian VII’s Palace.

They then hosted a second reception at Christiansborg Palace for the Diplomatic Corps.

For both events, Queen Mary chose an elegant white and gold brocade shirt dress from Teri Jon by Rickie Freeman. The floor-length gown features full-length sleeves and a high neck with a sash at the waist.

The elegant gown is a sustainable choice as she wore the dress in the summer of 2024 when visiting Greenland.

While the levees are not tiara events, Queen Mary was still appropriately jewelled. She wore King Frederik X’s portrait order on a light blue sash. She also wore a pair antique diamond earrings that are from her own personal collection.

The final, and rather regal, touch was Queen Lovisa’s Wedding Bracelet, a gold bracelet with diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, a final flourish of festive colours as the Christmas season came to a close and the perfect complement to the outfit of a winter queen.
