Many of us saw the newspaper pictures from the Grand Prix of the new “King of Formula 1”, Lewis Hamilton meeting the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, Will Smith. But real royalty was also in attendance at the event, in addition to King Juan Carlos of Spain, Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia took in the Grand Prix as part of a visit to the United Arab Emirates that began last Thursday. He is currently visiting a number of Gulf countries before attending the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the end of the month – he still has scheduled visits to Egypt, Tunisia and Bahrain.
The Crown Prince flew into the Presidential Airport to an official welcome including the Saudi Arabian national anthem; he later met with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. As reported on Royal Central, the Crown Prince visited Jordan on an official visit recently. Whilst at the Grand Prix, Crown Prince Mohammed met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai. It is understood they discussed various ways to enhance co-operation and co-ordination between their two respective countries.
In addition to the meetings, the Crown Prince took the opportunity to stroll around the Yas Marina circuit, one of the more modern circuits in the world and happily posed for pictures with many racegoers. Interestingly, there was a photograph circulating social media with the Crown Prince posing with Mohammed Khashoggi, the nephew of the murdered Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi. The Saudi heir has been accused of ordering the murder of the Saudi journalist in Turkey. The Crown Prince also met with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed; Sheikh Hamdan is the son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and has a keen interest in many sports and has represented the UAE as an equestrian at international level as well as having an interest in fast cars and sitting on the Dubai Sports Council.
