With three young grandchildren and another one on the way, Prince Charles jokes that Princess Charlotte and Prince George “wear me out.”
The future King visited a toddler group at Dorchester Community Church where he talked with 33-year-old mother, Amelia Kerr, at the church in Poundbury, Dorset.

Ms Kerr was cradling her month-old son, Oliver, and discussed young children with Charles. Charles said, “My grandchildren wear me out, I don’t know how you do it.”
Prince William has already expressed that he wants Charles to spend more time with his children. Soon Charles will be adding another member to the family as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child in the spring.
In a BBC One documentary to mark his 70th birthday, Prince Charles has repeatedly shown that he is a hands-on grandfather to five-year-old George, three-year-old Charlotte, and Louis, who is just a little over six months old. The Sunday Times had a special edition of the magazine for Charles’ 70th birthday featuring a touching photo between Charles and Prince Louis.
Charles even shops for his grandchildren while out on royal occasions. On a visit to Vanuatu, an island in the South Pacific, the Prince was debating to buy his grandchildren a pig or not.
“I’m wondering whether to buy a pig or not; they’re rather nice. Children always love those, don’t they? I may need to take these back for the children.”
During his visit to the church, Charles met with other mothers and children, where he spent time chatting away about puppet shows and crafts. Courtney Critchell, 25, and her one-year-old son, Oliver Knight, even surprised the Prince with a belated birthday card.
The Dorchester Community Church is the first church in Poundbury. Earlier in the day, Charles visited a development for the elderly, Yarlington Melrose Court. The court offers 63 apartments, which allow residents to stay independent for longer.
