The Duke of Cambridge also sent his regards to the Prime Minister in a public message on Twitter.

Taking to the micro-blogging website, Prince William wrote: “Our thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family, who like so many in the UK and around the world are affected by coronavirus.

“We wish him a speedy recovery at this difficult time.”

On Tuesday morning, The Queen also sent a private message to Boris Johnson’s fiancée and family.

A royal spokesperson said: “Earlier today The Queen sent a message to Carrie Symonds and to the Johnson family.

“Her Majesty said they were in her thoughts and that she wished the Prime Minister a full and speedy recovery.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on Monday evening as his coronavirus symptoms worsened.

Foreign & Commonwealth Secretary Dominic Raab is deputising for Mr Johnson.

A Downing Street spokesperson said on Tuesday that Mr Johnson is in a stable condition and had a comfortable night in hospital.
