The Tig is NOT being relaunched by the Duchess of Sussex

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex

If you were hopeful that a recent trademark renewal application for The Tig meant the imminent return to lifestyle blogging of the Duchess of Sussex, sadly that’s not the case.

The news, which came out last week when Meghan’s business manager applied for a lasting trademark for The Tig (and a website name for The Tigtots, which hadn’t previously existed during Meghan’s blogging time), was met with a swift denial by Meghan’s spokesperson, who told People magazine that Meghan has “absolutely no plans to relaunch The Tig.”

“The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her,” the spokesperson continued.

Meghan opened The Tig in 2014 and shut down the popular lifestyle blog in April 2017, months prior to her engagement to Prince Harry, with a heartfelt message to her readers that said:

“After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’

“Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything.”

At the time Meghan closed The Tig, rumours that an engagement announcement was forthcoming were met with denials again from her team, which said that it was a way to focus more on her career and her humanitarian pursuits.

Again, speaking to People, the spokesperson at the time said that “The Tig has been a labor of love for Meghan, but it’s a full-time job. She wants to focus on this season of Suits, which is just starting filming and spending more time in the field on her philanthropy.”

Meghan now owns the @sussexroyal Instagram account alongside Harry, which boasts 9.4 million followers.
