Prince Andrew hosts Dojo@Palace

<![CDATA[There were young people galore at Buckingham Palace on Thursday 10th July as The Duke of York hosted Dojo@Palace, a coding workshop for youngsters.
60 local schoolchildren were in attendance at The Queen's London residence and for the duration of the event they were split into two groups. The younger of the two groups were learning how to code using Scratch while the older children were using HTML. Prince Andrew looked on as the schoolchildren did their thing while still encouraging the youngsters to develop their coding skills beyond Dojo@Palace.

Also present at the event was an Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award presentation team who gave a short talk to showcase Gtracks. IDEA is an awards scheme for 14-25 year olds who have a passion for all things digital, as well as having an entrepreneurial spirit. The scheme was set up by HRH The Duke of York and the Nominet Trust and they hope that over the next five years they will support more than one million youngsters to pursue their own ideas and develop their digital skills.
The Dojo@Palace was organised by CoderDojo, a non-profit organisation which thrives to support youngsters with coding and improve their creative problem skills. Dojo@Palace is not the only dojo that the organisation has put on, they run various events for young people throughout the UK and the world who want to learn how to code, develop apps, websites and games.
At the conclusion of the event, The Duke of York continued to encourage the schoolchildren to carry on developing their digital skills, adding “I’m really pleased we have been able to invite CoderDojo into the palace as a stepping stone to getting more business in the local area to think about this.”
So it appears that Prince Andrew is fully behind this scheme and rightly so, digital skills are of utmost importance for future generations. This is a sure sign, once again, of a very high tech Royal Family.
