There are plenty of people in the UK right now who have been hoping for a break from Brexit in the papers. They’ve just got their wish as a royal story dominates the front pages and beyond of the latest editions of both broadsheets and tabloids. Reports that the Duke of Cambridge is concerned for his brother and sister in law make many of Tuesday’s papers.
William’s worries were shared with the BBC by an unnamed Palace source on Monday, just hours after the broadcast of the ITV documentary ‘Harry and Meghan: an African Journey’. That programme saw both Harry and Meghan talk about the impact that the pressures and scrutiny of the past year has had on them. The Duke of Sussex told presenter, Tom Bradby, that mental health issues he had previously felt on top of had resurfaced while the Duchess of Sussex talked about the sadness she was experiencing.
Now papers across the spectrum have picked up on BBC reports that William hopes Harry and Meghan are ”all right” and is worried about both of them. The same report also said there was ‘a view’ that Harry was in a ‘fragile place’.
The Daily Telegraph places the story at the top of its front page with the headline ”William fears for fragile Harry” while the Times also gives the story a prominent place under the headline ”Palace fears for Harry and Meghan”. The front page of the I also trails the story although the Guardian keeps its coverage for the inside pages.
The Metro goes further on its front pages, reporting that the Queen shares William’s concerns for the couple. The Mail, the Sun and the Daily Mirror all headline William’s ”fears” for Harry while the Express goes for ”worries”.
But for those who can’t get by without their dose of politics, don’t worry. This royal story is only just ahead of Brexit coverage in the papers.
