In the end, even the most confident child finds the first day at school a little daunting and Princess Charlotte was no exception. As the four year old arrived at Thomas’ School in Battersea for the start of her education there, she briefly tried to hide behind her mum, the Duchess of Cambridge before stepping out to greet her new teacher in front of an audience of cameras.

She knows her new school well, though, as Prince George has been a pupil there since September 2017.
