The Duke of Sussex has reportedly bought his young nephew, 11-week-old Prince Louis, a £8,000 Winnie The Pooh 1926 first edition in celebration of Louis’s christening. The gift is, of course, from both Louis’s Uncle Harry and Aunt Meghan, revealed The Sun in their exclusive.
The doting uncle is believed to be building a library of books for his two nephews and niece.
A source told The Sun about Prince Harry’s choice, which was in tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales, “One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother.
“She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte and George to enjoy as they get older.
“He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie-The-Pooh would be more suitable for a first tome.”
When Prince Harry was a child, he “loved all things A.A. Milne” but older brother, Prince William was more of a fan of Robinson Crusoe.”
Prince Louis is to be christened this afternoon by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, at St James’s Palace. Welby tweeted this morning about the christening, “I’m delighted and privileged to be christening Prince Louis today – a precious child made in God’s image, just as we all are. Please join me in praying for him and his family on this special day. ‘You are my beloved’ (Mark 1:11).”
Louis will wear a replica of the Royal Family’s antique christening gown, and the Lily Font will be used to hold the water from which he will be baptised.
Today will be the first time that the Cambridges will be seen as a family of five.
