New photos of Princess Charlotte released to mark first day at nursery school

Princess Charlotte started her first day of nursery school this morning at Willcocks Nursery School near Kensington Palace, and to mark the occasion, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released two photos of the young princess.

On Twitter, Kensington Palace said, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace this morning.”

Back in December, the Duke and Duchess announced that Princess Charlotte would attend Willcocks Nursery School – noted for “an ethos of high standards, excellence and good manners,” per its website – located next door to the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, which is not far from her Kensington Palace home.

The photographs of Princess Charlotte were taken by her mother before she left for school this morning outside of their home at Kensington Palace.

Princess Charlotte is posed on the steps of their home with one photo featuring her posing while holding on to the railing. The other image shows the two-year-old sitting on the steps and smiling sweetly at the camera.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose to release images taken by the Duchess for Charlotte’s first day, as they did with George’s first day of nursery school at Westacre Montessori School Nursery near the family home in Norfolk in January 2016.

George and Charlotte will be joined by a younger sibling in April when the Duchess gives birth to her and the Duke’s third child. The Duke and Duchess’s third child is expected to be born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London like its older siblings. Prince George will turn five on 22 July, and Prince Charlotte will turn three on 2 May.
