The royals who will join The Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the Platinum Jubilee

It’s one of the most highly anticipated parts of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The moment that the Royal Family walk out on to the balcony of Buckingham Palace after Trooping the Colour is one that will be watched around the world. And now we know who will stand at The Queen’s side at this historic moment in her historic reign.

Buckingham Palace doesn’t usually announce a line up for balcony appearances but, with a month to go until the Jubilee weekend, the royals who will celebrate alongside Her Majesty have been confirmed.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will take centre stage on the balcony alongside The Queen. They will be joined by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who will be accompanied by their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The decision to include the Cambridge children means another chance to see The Queen alongside her three direct heirs.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex will also join the royal party along with their children, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor and James, Viscount Severn. The Princess Royal will be present, as will her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.

Three of The Queen’s cousins will also be on the balcony. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra will appear with Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace.

The decision to confine appearances to working royals means there is no place for the Duke of York, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex or Princess Beatrice or Princess Eugenie. Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall will also be missing from this balcony appearance.

Trooping the Colour takes place on June 2nd 2022.
