Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen looks radiant in pink as she tours the Chelsea Flower Show

The Queen was out and about unexpectedly for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Monday in a bright look to complement the flowers.

Her Majesty wore a white dress with a green and pink floral print and a bright pink coat over top. For the informal occasion, she did not have a hat.

She accessorised her spring look with her beloved three-strand pearl necklace, pearl stud earrings, a black Launer handbag, and a floral broach. Photographs show that it may be her Cartier Sapphire and Ruby Floral Brooch that we haven’t seen her wear publicly in several years. Her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth gave Elizabeth the Cartier piece in April 1945 to celebrate her 19th birthday.

Notably, The Queen was driven around the flower show in a motorised buggy. She has been unable to attend several major events this year, including the Royal Maundy Service at Windsor and the State Opening of Parliament, because of her ongoing mobility issues.

Royal Horticultural Society President Keith Weed sat with Her Majesty in the buggy to give her a personal tour of the show. She looked to be in good spirits and enjoying the show.

The Queen almost always attends the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, also known as the Great Spring Show. It is held on the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital in Chelsea and lasts five days. She is Patron of the Royal Horticultural Society; her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, was the society’s first Patron in 1861.

Many other members of the Royal Family visit the Chelsea Flower Show. On Monday, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, also attended the show. In 2019, The Duchess of Cambridge designed a garden, Back to Nature, that encouraged children to play in and engage with the natural world.
