Pubs to stay open longer for the Platinum Jubilee

Revellers will be able to party longer for the Platinum Jubilee after parliament agreed to extend opening hours for the celebratory weekend at the start of June.

From June 2nd until June 4th 2022, all pubs and bars in England and Wales will be allowed to keep serving until 1am rather than 11pm. Nightclubs are also included in the temporary change.

It means an extra two hours of drinking time on three nights during the long weekend of festivities that mark the Platinum Jubilee.

The first night of extended opening hours, June 2nd, is also the evening that Jubilee beacons will be lit around the country. Earlier that day, Trooping the Colour will mark the official start of the Platinum celebrations.

The Royal Family will be at a special Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s reign on June 3rd at St. Paul’s Cathedral. On June 4th, there will be a big royal turnout at the Epsom Derby while many of The Queen’s family are also expected at the Platinum Party at the Palace that evening.

The Jubilee celebrations conclude with the Platinum Pageant on June 5th 2022. Streets around central London will be taken over by a carnival celebrating The Queen’s life, reign and service. Over 10,000 people will be involved.
