Princess Anne reveals she spent last day of The Queen’s life at her side

The Princess Royal has confirmed that she was with Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II when she passed away at Balmoral.

In a moving statement, Princess Anne said ”I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life.”

Anne was at her side when Her Late Majesty died on September 8th 2022 at the Scottish home she loved so well.

The Princess spoke emotionally of the days that followed, when she has been with her mother’s coffin continually. She stayed at Balmoral while Her Late Majesty lay in rest in the ballroom there and followed her hearse on the long drive from Aberdeenshire to Edinburgh. Princess Anne has been at Holyroodhouse since, staying there while Queen Elizabeth’s coffin was at rest in the Throne Room before following it to St. Giles’ Cathedral for a Service of Thanksgiving and keeping vigil at it later that same evening. As Her Late Majesty left Edinburgh for the final time, her only daughter followed behind and was on the plane that brought the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II to London.

The Princess Royal expressed deep gratitude to all those who had come out to pay their respects to her mother, saying ”witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting.”

She ended her statement by saying, simply, ”To my mother, The Queen, thank you.”
