New photo released of Princess Charlotte

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released a new photo of their daughter Princess Charlotte ahead of her 2nd birthday tomorrow. The photo was taken in April by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, at their home in Norfolk. In addition to the photo, the Kensington Palace Twitter account posted:

TRH would like to thank everyone for the lovely messages they have received & hope that everyone enjoys this photograph as much as they do.

Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge was born at 8.34 in the morning on Saturday, 2 May 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. She weighed in at 8lbs 3oz and was delivered just two and half hours after her mother was admitted to hospital.

Physicians present at the birth included Alan Farthing, surgeon-gynaecologist to Queen Elizabeth II, Sunit Godambe, Consultant Neonatologist, Huw Thomas, physician to the Queen and Guy Thorpe-Beeston, an expert in high-risk pregnancies and surgeon-gynaecologist of the Royal Household. They were joined by midwives Jacquie Dunkley-Bent and Arona Ahmed.

An announcement of the birth was posted on an easel in the Buckingham Palace forecourt at mid-day. The newborn Charlotte was taken home the very same day, and so Princess Charlotte was presented to the world less than 10 hours after she was born. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed briefly with the newborn Princess and did not speak to any of the waiting press before departing for their home at Kensington Palace.

Her name was announced two days after her birth. The young Princess is fourth in line to the throne behind her grandfather, father and elder brother, Prince George.
