King Charles III has arrived at Sandringham for the Christmas celebrations. It will be the first festive season of his reign – and the first for His Majesty without either of his parents at his side.
The King, along with Queen Camilla, arrived at their Norfolk residence on the morning of December 23rd 2022. Their Majesties arrived privately – Queen Elizabeth II usually made her way to Sandringham by train, taking the service from King’s Cross to King’s Lynn and then driving the remaining distance to the royal estate.
King Charles will be joined by many members of the Royal Family in the coming days as they mark their first Christmas without Queen Elizabeth II.
The royals will head to morning service at St. Mary Magdalene on Christmas Day and they are expected to meet many of the wellwishers outside the church afterwards.
His Majesty will host Christmas dinner for his family and they are all expected to watch his first Christmas Day broadcast together.
Queen Elizabeth II made Sandringham a favourite destination for royal festive celebrations throughout her seventy year reign. Her Late Majesty would remain there until February 6th every year so that she could mark the anniversary of her father’s death in the place where he passed away.
