Rumours of there being a slimmed-down Coronation in May have been quashed, with the news that the event will be marked with a three-day extravaganza.
Buckingham Palace has announced that the Coronation Service will take place on Saturday May 6, with a further two days of celebrations planned.
Coronation Day itself will be a formal affair full of ceremony. The King and Queen will attend Westminster Abbey for the service, arriving via a special Coronation Procession.
It is unknown at this stage who will take part in the procession, although it is understood to include many members of The Royal Family.
There will also be a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace.
The following day, the real celebrations begin, with street parties being held across the nation.
There will also be a concert at Windsor Castle that evening, and further celebrations on Monday 8th May focusing on charity and volunteering.
This is a far cry from the rumours which circulated in the aftermath of Charles III ascending the throne, with suggestions that the Coronation would be a ‘slimmed-down’ affair.
However, as can be seen from the scale of the celebrations, there have been no cut-backs, with a full programme of events scheduled.
