Although The King has a busy week this week with several events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the second anniversary of his Coronation, he found time to help celebrate beloved biologist Sir David Attenborough.
King Charles suited up to walk the appropriately blue carpet at the film premiere of Ocean with David Attenborough. The film, that will soon be on streaming services after its cinematic premiere, explores the role of the ocean in Earth’s development and why it is so important for us to focus on the waters for our planet’s survival.

King Charles has long-championed environmental causes and raised awareness on critical issues. As the Royal Family shared, he “first marked the issue of oil and plastic pollution in the sea in 1970 when he was 21 years old. Since then, The King has continued to champion the importance of ocean health.”
Before the screening began, His Majesty was able to meet Sir David Attenborough and chat about the film.
And King Charles isn’t the first royal to enjoy the film. Earlier, Prince William attended a screening for school children.
It will be a big week for Sir David Attenborough as, in addition to the premiere, he is also celebrating his 99th birthday on 8 May 2025.
