King Charles moved to tears by Queen Camilla’s work to end domestic abuse

As a new documentary about Queen Camilla’s focus on ending domestic abuse aired, King Charles shares candid emotions as he described how proud he is of his wife’s work.

The 76-year-old spoke about the new documentary, Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors, a 90-minute film highlighting the work Queen Camilla does to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence. During a reception for the world of entertainment, The King said of the film, “It’s very moving, isn’t it? I think BAFTA [British Academy of Film and Television Arts] are interested in it.”

It’s reported Charles also told Kerene Barefield and Naveed Chowdhary-Flatt who directed and produced the film that it made him quite emotional, saying “I am very proud of it. It reduced me to tears.”

During the film, The Queen speaks candidly about what has driven her over the last decade to work on this project. Viewers see Camilla hosting a number of roundtables with teenagers and marking International Women’s Day at Buckingham Palace. There are also never before seen looks at private meetings with survivors and change makers in this field.

According to Buckingham Palace, one in five adults experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
